We love wine and the challenge it delivers. It draws out our experience and passion, our skill and expertise, our quest for the distinct and the sublime. Our daily work is dedicated to helping each wine shine. And that care flows into every bottle of Spohr: try it for yourself.

Fine wines from Spohr

Our quality pyramid

Our three-tier quality pyramid provides a clear and easy way to find the right wine for any occasion. Each Spohr wine is classified based on where its grapes were grown. And within each tier, every wine is given time and space to develop its own distinctive character.

Spohr Lagenwein (single site) sits at the apex. They grow in vineyards of incomparable historical, geological, and climatic excellence.

Spohr Ortswein (village) grows in the estate’s finest vineyards. The terroir encompasses the soil and microclimate, the vintner’s vision, toil, and passion – every element plays a decisive role.

Spohr´s Gutswein (estate) serves as our calling card. Wines of exceptional value and quality, always a pleasure whether enjoyed with food or simply solo.

Single Site Lagenwein

Premium wines from outstanding vineyard sites

Our single site wines are routinely the finest in a given vintage: authentic, expressive and complex.

The top of the Spohr portfolio includes wines from the historic Liebfrauenstift-Kirchenstück in Worms – for centuries a revered wine growing site. Our premium Rieslings hail from Abenheim, in vineyards around the chapel on the Klausenberg, as well as the Bechtheimer Rosengarten. Bechtheim is also home to our Spätburgunder vines on the well-known Geyersberg site.

Ortswein (Village)

Wines shaped by terroir

Our village wines are produced from selective harvests of our finest vineyard sites in Abenheim, Osthofen, and Bechtheim.

They give liquid insights into our philosophy of place. Our Abenheimer range: a powerful Grauburgunder (aged in oak); a mature, thrilling Sauvignon Blanc; and a Spätburgunder of excellent typicity, matured for at least one year in oak. Our Bechtheimer: an elegant and mineral-rich Riesling that is a joyous companion to any meal.

Estate wines

Simple, never simplistic

Estate wines promise relaxed enjoyment: every day, to fit your mood and merriment.

The Wonnegau, our beloved stretch of southern Rheinhessen, is known for its deep and calcareous loess soils. It is also the cradle of our estate wines: juicy and refreshing white varieties such as Grauburgunder, Riesling, Weißburgunder, and Chardonnay, fruity and delicious rosés from Spätburgunder and Portugieser, and appealing and approachable reds such as Schwarzriesling, Dornfelder, Lemberger, Merlot, and Cabernet Sauvignon.

Blends

Our blends are a perfect treat for those days when you fancy the best of all worlds.

Blends have long been a major passion for the Spohrs – from our fresh secco named Bajazzo to delicious rosés, our Sagenhaft feinherb blend, and a Blanc de Noir dry and Pinot Sekt Brut.

Our red masterpieces – Wildwechsel Rotwein dry, the Nibelungencuvée, and our Reservéwein Cuvée CS each join together the best of different varieties.
