The Winemakers
Christian, the vintner and organizational engine in Abenheim, is usually found in the vineyard, the cellar, the office, or in the warehouse. Or recounting stories about the estate from behind the counter at one of Spohr’s frequent events. Anne is also a master at capturing beauty in a bottle: she cultivates Rieslings from top sites on the middle Mosel at her family’s estate, Weingut Eifel-Pfeiffer in Trittenheim, with passion and skill.
The pair are linked by creativity and courage, tenacity and a fine touch.
Rita and Heinz
Big Shoes to Fill
The 1970s: a colorful time in world history, and for our small estate as well. Rita and Heinz Spohr had grand ideas for the humble estate, ideas that would become their life’s work.
And still are – both remain an essential part of the team. Rita handles wine tastings and keeps things moving in the office. Heinz handles thousands of the daily issues small and large.
And both are very happy that it is someone else’s turn to carry the torch.
